FLOS

Founded in Merano (Italy) in 1962. founded by Dino Gavina and Cesare Cassina, Flos has become synonymous with innovative contemporary solutions when it comes to decorative and professional lighting.

The brand was founded as a laboratory for designers and architects, striving to improve the lighting industry. In order to maintain this philosophy, the company moved to Brescia, where the new headquarters were used as an institute to research new design and ideas. In 1963 Sergio Gandini became the general manager of the company and proved to be a key figure in the history of FLOS.

In its design and thinking, FLOS included from the beginning the giants of Italian industrial design, such as the Castiglioni brothers and Tobia Scarpa. They wanted to put revolutionary products on the market that soon became icons of world design, such as the Arco lamp.

After an exhibition of Italian products was set up in New York at the Museum of Contemporary Art (1972), FLOS positioned itself on the world market in just a few years. In the eighties, the cooperation with the then young Philip Starck began, which was extremely successful and continues to this day.

In addition to Starck, the prestigious list of collaborations includes Antonio Citterio, Piero Lissoni, Konstantin Grcic, Patricia Urqiola, Marcel Wanders, Ron Gilad, the Bouroullec brothers, Vincent Van Duysen, Nendo…

For more than half a century, FLOS has been constantly impressing by bringing interesting and creative collections in collaboration with talented designers, and their products have been constantly awarded and are already in the permanent collections of major art and design museums around the world.

Today, the FLOS offer consists of 3 basic divisions; decorative lighting FLOS, professional lighting FLOS ARCHITECTURAL and FLOS Outdoor.
